Sarah Aitken

Sarah Aitken is Albanwise Environment's Environment Manager for Yorkshire. Sarah is currently focussed on managing the development phase of the Leven Carrs Wetland Landscape Recovery Project, one of Defra’s environmental land management schemes. She leads the Project's Steering Group, working in partnership with a range of land managers and organisations to hone the project's outputs.

Before joining Albanwise in March 2023, Sarah worked in wildlife conservation as a manager at RSPB Bempton Cliffs nature reserve, a warden at Spurn Point and RSPB conservation officer for Lincolnshire and Norfolk. Experienced in species recovery, land management, development planning and protected sites policy she's also interested in the health benefits of nature and public engagement and education.

I’m Sarah, the project manager for the Leven Carrs Wetland project near Beverley in East Yorkshire. In this post, I’ll shine a light on our Landscape Recovery project. We want to transform the area into a landscape-scale, dynamic wetland which is home to an abundance of wildlife and sits alongside sustainable farming practices and food production.
