Tom Goss

Tom took over as editor of the Defra Farming Blog in September 2026 during Sarah Stewart's period of maternity leave.

In this role he is responsible for a portfolio of digital engagement products and channels, including the Farming Blog, and leads on engagement planning across the Farming Directorate’s priority policy areas

Prior to joining the Farming Directorate’s engagement team, Tom worked in the Farming Communications team, co-ordinating and planning key government announcements.

Prior to joining Defra, Tom worked in the National Farmers’ Union Communications team. Starting on its graduate scheme, he then headed up their social media team before making the jump across to Defra.

Outside of work, Tom is passionate about cricket, turning out regularly for the Defra All Stars team.
