Phil Stocker
Phil Stocker is the Independent Chair of the Dartmoor Land Use Management Group, appointed through an open recruitment process.
Phil has over 40 years of experience in agriculture, environmental management, and land use, and he brings extensive knowledge and leadership to the role.
He lives in Gloucestershire where, on a small scale, he puts into practice his interests in integrating livestock into sustainable grassland management and silviculture, and wider woodland management.
Phil is the Chief Executive of the National Sheep Association and has held previous positions with the Soil Association and RSPB in addition to having extensive practical farming experience .
Phil also serves as the Chairman of the Black Mountains Land Use Partnership, where he has demonstrated his ability to balance diverse interests in upland land management.
Recognised for his progressive approach to farming and its relationship with markets and supply chains, the protection of natural resources, and environmental conservation, Phil has proven his commitment to striking the right balance between food production, nature recovery, and preserving cultural heritage.
Phil's leadership will steer the Dartmoor Land Use Management Group in delivering its objectives, including implementing recommendations from the Dartmoor Independent Review and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
